Everthing's better with an umbrella

What's a great barbecue without great beverages? I decided to take one of the Get Out and Grill cocktails, Blueberry Limoncellos, on a test run today. And I decided to embellish the drinks with some umbrellas I had leftover. I know I'm probably one of the few people with drink umbrellas hanging around the house but everyone should have them on hand for festive drink occasions. They just make every drink seem extra special. And people just light up when they see one in their drink. There's something about them that makes you feel like you're on vacation. They're also a good vehicle for skewering fruit. A little bit more interesting than your ordinary skewer, too.

The Blueberry Limoncellos were very beautiful and refreshing. I made a couple of batches and for the second batch, I cut the amount of Limoncello (a lemon liqueur) in half and added more fresh lemon juice. I don't like my drinks too sweet and I liked more of the fresh lemon flavor in there to balance the sweet frozen blueberries. You can also substitute lemonade if don't want alcohol in the drink.

These are very easy to make and the great thing is that you could double or even quadruple the recipe to make a big batch for a party. Then you can sit back and relax instead of shaking up cocktails all night. I think the following kabob recipes would go nicely with this cocktail because they feel like cocktail party fare - Skewed Lamb Kabobs with Lime Sauce or Teriyaki Salmon and Green Onion Kabobs. Hope you enjoy!
