Grill Up Some Guilt Free Turkey Burgers

I am a huge fan of anything with ginger in it. I love the smell of fresh ginger and the little kick it gives everything you put it in - from tea to turkey burgers. Ginger is also great for the digestive system so there's an added health bonus too. I've been wanting to try the Asian-Spiced Turkey Burgers all summer, mostly because the recipe has ginger, garlic and soy sauce in it - all ingredients I love. I finally got the chance to make them and am wondering why I waited so long!

The Asian-Spiced Turkey Burgers are nice and moist and you taste ginger and garlic in every bite. Not your ho-hum burger - that's for sure. The recipe suggested using hoisin sauce (a Chinese barbecue and dipping sauce) as a topping and I think that's a great call. It complements the Asian flavors in the burger very well. And in true Lynne style, I added a little something to the recipe. After I spread some hoisin sauce on the burger, I sprinkled sesame seeds on top. It adds some nice crunch and flavor to the sandwich. You might want to give that a try.

My grilling guest, Lisa, summed it up best when she said, "This doesn't taste like a burger." But she meant it in a good way. She felt the Asian-Spiced Turkey Burger had more complex flavors than a typical burger and she also liked the fact that she didn't feel guilty for eating it like she sometimes does when she eats a regular beef burger. Although I equally embrace all kinds of burgers, I had to agree that it's nice to eat one that is lighter and healthier.

So out of the 3 Get Out and Grill burgers I have tried, here's how I rate them:
Fontina-Filled Burger - most moist & delicious
Spicy Mary Burger - best kick
Asian-Spiced Burger - most unusual and healthiest

Try one. Try them all!

Those look really good. Consider some low fat sausage from SmokedTexasBarbecue.com as well, same guilt-freeness but with lots more pork and beef!
